This is where we will develop the few facts that there are in this particular case as there is truth to a killer's boldness and the beginning of their MO.

This is information taken from wikipedia, and I do not have any handwriting in this murder to indicate that JT was the perpetrator, but this may be where he learned his tactics from:

On Tuesday, June 5, 1945, 43-year-old Josephine Ross was found dead in her apartment; she had been repeatedly stabbed, and her head was wrapped in a dress.  She was presumed to have surprised an intruder, who then killed her. Dark hairs were found clutched in Ross' hand, indicating that she had struggled with the intruder before she was killed.[4] No valuables were taken from the apartment.[5]

Ross’ fiancé had an alibi, as did her former boyfriends and ex-husbands,[4] and police had no other suspects. They looked for a dark-complexioned man who was reported loitering at the apartment or running from the scene,[4]but were unable to identify or locate him.

On Thursday, December 20, 1945, Frances Brown, an ex-Wave,[6 was discovered stabbed to death in her apartment after a cleaning woman heard a radio playing loudly and noted Brown’s door partly open. Brown, too, had been savagely stabbed, and authorities thought that a burglar had been discovered or interrupted. Again, no valuables were taken[5] but someone had written a message in lipstick on the wall of Brown’s apartment:

Police found a bloody fingerprint smudge on the door jamb of the entrance door. Also, there was a possible eyewitness to the killer's escape. An "eye-witness", George Weinberg, heard gunshots at about 4 a.m. According to John Derrick, the night clerk stationed in the lobby of the building, a nervous man of 35–40 years old and weighing approximately 140 pounds had got off the elevator, fumbled for the door to the street and left.

This occurance may have been accompanied by another individual as well who did the killing, but we see the beginning of an author. The writing being left in red lipstick is a connection to the Red Lipstick Killer in Riverside, CA.

On Monday, January 7, 1946, six-year-old Suzanne Degnan was discovered missing from her bedroom. After searching the home and not finding the girl, her family called police.  Dismembered in a wash basin in a the basement of a nearby building.  Body was washed and cleaned of any evidence much like the previous 2 murders.

Her disappearance earned significant publicity, and police vowed to find whoever was responsible. Police found a ladder outside the girl’s window, and also discovered a ransom note which had been overlooked by the family.

This sounds more like a first kill for a greenpea. A child or someone much weaker would have been the choice, and the other 2 women may have been something that JT was a part of, but the MO is definitely different than what we see comes in the furture; except for, the handwriting.

This was found in Susan Degnan's room shortly before her body was discovered.

Susan Degnan's bedroom window[frown]More pics to come of Heirens walking through window)

[Degnanhouse]

These are miscellaneous communications that I need to source. I believe that the first one was written with a marker on a pole outside one of the victim's home, and the other I am not sure at this time, and the last one is the first picture above. (Specifics to come)

Here are more pictures of the crime scenes:

These obviously look like different places that Heirens was taken to.

A letter that was purportedly found on Bill Heirens after his arrest. The stories say that it was a friend that gave it to him, or that it was a homework project. (We will cover the logic in this shortly)

I have made an amazing find with the letter "C" in JT's writing today while reviewing the Zodiac files for a second opinion that is eerily similar to LK's, and I will probably post it tomorrow...

Coincidentally, JT was 17 years old at the time of the murders, and when a young 17 year old Bill Heirens was convicted of the crime.

This picture along with many others of the construction of what appears to be steam stacks at the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois were found in JT's pics. I think this should solidify his familiarity with Chicago, Ill.

Here is a pic of a very young JT that appears to be the same type of photo, and time frame as the Public Service Company pic. I wish I could identify this particular building in the background...

OK, I made the opinion that JT was in Chicago, Ill. long before DK ever had a clue that JT could have been there during the 1945-46 time frame. I was told I was crazy, and there wasn't any way that JT was ever in Ill.

1. Then of course DK spoke with JT's aunt who said that Flora sold the farm in 1944, and moved to Chicago, Ill. with her husband (Wiltamuth???)

2. Then JT's brother's wife confirmed that she met JT's brother and married him in 1954 where they met. So obviously, there is a home drawn connection if they both continue to return to this particular spot.

3. There is also a military connection because during this time frame, I have 2 theories that may be reality; first, JT joined the military, and was told he was too small to join, go gain some weight!!! Dennis claims that JT says, "he ate a bunch of bananas." We are not exactly sure when this occurred because I thought he first tried to enter the military before he turned 18, but I may have my facts incorrect. Anyway, many talented and intelligent people were sent to Ill., and MI., for training early on to replace these individuals in the war due to fatalities. They needed trained people immediately, and some passed an IQ test that suggested they could learn their jobs quickly and be deployed faster.

4. The other theory involves, that JT was denied on his first entry, and returned home, an upset individual. I have always said that the Z killer hung out long enough to commit his crimes, and then was out of there. My Grandfather has read JT's records, and says that he was put on a month hold through the Naval Recruiting Center for a month. This gives JT all kinds of time to go home... Chicago, Ill.

Either way, due to my strong belief in the handwriting, JT should be suspect to any serial killings that come and go with his presence due to the Z killings which I am absolutely sure he is responsible for the letters.

So, this is my thought....

JT has indicated that by the time he was 16 he has  been in 28 states...

16 years of age would be 1944, when he doesn't continue this story past this age...

I think because he finally returned home; otherwise, he would have probably seen more states.

Home at this point, is Chicago, Ill. where his mother moved to with her new husband.

Now, he is there until he attempts to enter the military for the first time and is told he is too small... This either sent him on a eating and bulking spree, or he just went home where he knew the food was good. I think the later....

He is home for June 1945 killing of LK and writings involved, but back in Navy action in San Diego July 1945. He is deployed, but WWII ends in August where everyone is sent home. Not getting his desire to really participate in the war.

I think that he re-enlists on 12-12-1945, but is given time to get his affairs in order just like his first enlistment when he was on hold for 30 days... He commits or is part of the December and Janurary murder only to be gone to make his enlistment with the military. There has been many theories that the suspect was a merchant marine or military personel who was on the go. (Merchant Seaman and Navy) is what I have heard!

One last kill on 1-1946 for Degnan child... Disected which is something that JT has shown in his own photos he is capable of. No doubt to his ability to hunt, quarter, skin, and save the hide, meat, and integrity of the animal.... They considered a butcher or surgeon was responsible for the murders...

JT is both..........

Other belongings that ties JT back to this area and MI, is the key ring from GMAC with a lost and found address of Southfield, MI, which is coincidentally in the middle of the OCCK area murders. It looks as if it has a locker key attached to it, and there are stories surrounding the supposed LK murders where the suspect supposedly left stolen merchandise and murder weapon in a locker at a train or bus station. I wll need to re-up on this information to quote it correctly, but it seems awfully coincidental that this was in JT's belongings, and while DK may claim that the phonebook from JT's belongings was really from a storage shed he bought, he has never denied this keychain that was personally in JT's little box of tricks, and DK did not know at the time he presented it to me, that it went back to the heart of the OCCK case.

Doing a search on JT's pics, and I found out that the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois was created by a merger that didn't occur until 1950, and thus would make this picture after the LK murders, and probably more towards the time that Jack and Charles were in Michigan area where Charles met his wife. Also, in reading some of JT's things, I found where he listed on a military record where he was employed with a Lubbock cement company as a light truck driver from 1942-45. Now, this conflicts with DK's story that JT left home at 14 and traveled to 28 different states until 16 years of age. However, this could have been a lie to give himself a background for the military or he could have worked off and on for three years. Does anyone know if you could actually be employed as a driver at the age of 14 back then??? Seems you would have to have a license, and it seems that they did back then....

On the other hand, I looked up a person of interest that I found in JT's belongings that includes their address, and found them to be in the 1940 Census bureau for Chicago, Illinois, so this would suggest JT's presence during the 40's. I am going to locate the family members and see if I can determine how JT was connected to her.

I definitely have the right person due to the unique name, and the 1940 Census Bureau put her in Ward 17 which is in Cook County, and the block number for this ward is 6700 which coincides with the address found in JT's belongings. Now to see who remembers what??? This is exciting because it is definitely putting JT right smack dab where I said he was.

The address is a mere 17-18 miles from Edgewater, Chicago where the LK murders occurred.

I was wrong about the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois as I referenced above. I found the building in JT's pics, and this is the background:

Waukegan Power Plant

[EJE703-Waukegan7C+photo+by+Jeff+Easton]The Waukegan Power Plant is located a mile north of Waukegan on the Lake Michigan lakeshore. It is a coal burning electric generating facility operated by the Integrys Energy Group.

EJ&E Railroad engine 703 (above) leads a UP coal train to the Waukegan Power Plant photographed by Jeff Easton in 2007 and posted on Railroadforums.com

Until recently, fishermen were allowed to use the pier near the plant. The power plant uses water from Lake Michigan to cool the steam used in the generating process. The water is returned to the lake via a discharge channel, and is warmer than the lake water, which in turn attracts fish. There are now "no fishing" signs posted.

The county's first electric generating coal plant was the Waukegan Electric Light Company. It was founded by Michael Hussey about 1905. Hussey was known as the coal baron of northern Illinois in those early years of the 20th century.

[North+Shore+Electric+Co+1906]North Shore Electric Company linemen, 1906 (above). At this time, electric service was available only to people in towns, and generally from dusk to dawn. Front row: Bob Jenkinson, Charlie Kreuser, John Riddle (Zion), George Hecksweiler, C. Voss; Back row: Mr. Brooks (Zion), George Jenkinson (Waukegan), Dennis Murphy (Waukegan)

[Sam+Insull]In 1923, Hussey’s company was bought out by Samuel Insull’s Public Service Company of Northern Illinois.

In the early teens, Insull set about revolutionizing the availability of electric service. Lake County was his home base and where he set his plans in motion by buying out small, independent power plants. He ran transmission lines and centralized the service, and was able to provide 24-hour electric service to thousands of homes and farms. (Samuel Insull, right)

The Public Service Company of Northern Illinois became Commonwealth Edison, and then Exelon. Several years ago Exelon sold the Waukegan power plant to the Integrys Energy Group.

[2007-12-35_power+station]In 2007, the museum received a donation of nearly 60 photographs of the Waukegan Power Plant from a private donor. The photos are of plant employees in their daily tasks, posing candidly for the camera, and date from the 1930s to 1970s. (Power plant workers, circa 1935 - LCDM 2007.12)

[2007-12-47_McCoy] (W. McCoy at one of the control panels, circa 1970 - LCDM 2007.12)

[2007_12+Genkinger+Mathews]The images are remarkable because they document the power plant's workforce. Most candid photographs tend to be taken of people on vacation or at special events and gatherings. It is far less common for people to take photographs at work, making this collection all the more fascinating.

(Herman Genkinger and Richard "Red" Mathews, 1950 - LCDM 2007.12)

[2007_12+Power+Plant+safety+award]So the building that we see in JT's pics was bought by Public Service Company of Northern Illinois in 1923, and therefore there is a possibility that this pic is circa 1945-50. The Waukegan plant has subsequently been sold, and the ComEd building is a newer location, but hilariously the address is 3500 N. California Avenue and bordered on the other end by N. Sacramento Avenue. How's that for a coincidence???

Jupiter mentioned at one point in time that JT couldn't have been the lipstick killer because his military record indicated that he entered active service on 12-12-45 thus making him not available for the 12-20-45 murder in Chicago, Ill. However, I must note on the same record it indicated that JT had received a promotion from C1 to S1(Sargent) on 11-25-1945 which would suggest that JT was already in active service during this time, so I do not see any reason to discount his whereabouts at this point in time.

During my recent examinations I found more handwriting examples missed earlier:

Handwriting Characteristics JPEG0001.jpg

Looking at the capital "R's" in the Degnan ransom note shows that this is a letter the suspect attempted to disguise by it's construction due to the enormous differences between each one. Where you look at JT's, and all "R's" are consistent with the exception of one which would indicate a more natural fluid writing of an individual.

I found that the word "for" was very similar in construction and form between the Lipstick Killer and JT. The letter "f" both have an elongated stem with a very small overhang at the top, and it is written lower case "f" and "o" with a capital "R" in both cases.

Handwriting Characteristics JPEG0002.jpg
And here is a recap of the block lettering found at various crimes scenes and in JT's own handwriting.
